Wrapping up the summer!

As the summer comes to an end I just want to share some of the events that went on over the summer at the library!

With the help of other directors from some of the libraries in SEKLS, all of the books in the library were gone through, and many were put out for our book sale. Any books that had not been checked out in over 10 years were for sale. It went very well and we made over $400.00. I want to thank everyone for their support.

July 28,29, and 30 we had our summer reading program. The theme was pirates! We had a wonderful turn out. Day one we had 11 kids and we made our own parrots to sit on our shoulders and took pictures in a cut out of a pirate, then read the book How I Became a Pirate. Day 2 we had 17 kids. We made our own pirate flags and read Pirates Don’t Change Diapers. Day 3 we had 16 kids and we went on a treasure hunt. It was a lot of fun!

Make a Splash-Read

We will be having a summer reading program and kids ages 5-9 are invited to join us. The program will be on July 28,29, & 30. It will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be food, fun, reading and activites. Be sure to come and join us!

Story Time on April 3rd

We had a wonderful time at our last story time. We had a turn out of nine kids. We read “Where the Wild Things Are” with puppets, made crown’s like King Max’s in the story, and had a snack.

PALS Class visits the library

The Cedar Vale Elementary PALS class came to visit the library on Monday, January 18, 2010. The PALS class all got library cards to take home and have their parents fill out, so that they can come back and check out books with their class. I gave them a tour of the library, and then showed them how to check out books. They all went to the children’s section and picked out books to look at. Most of them had never been to the library so I think it was a very fun experience for them!

Saturday Story time

We will be having a story time on the 1st Saturday of every month. It will be at 10:30 a.m. We will read a story and do other activities. Children of all ages, accompanied by their parents, are welcome!
